Here you go, this link "http://goo.gl/8ZaTZB" is the reference document which i used to model a generic LVDT model in simulink and of course it uses position as input as others inputs parameters (like nulber of spires, maximum displacement, ...) and provide coils voltage at the output. It's in early stages but provides good results when it comes to simulation (dynamic model). Every details of the model can be found in the reference document listed above. Hi rdjixon93,

The implemented state space is the Controllable Canonical Form (you can find an example here: http://www.engr.mun.ca/~millan/Eng6825/canonicals.pdf). You can directly produce a state space from the transfer function but for parameters ai, bi, and ci, i developed them on paper (sorry, i no longer have these papers) and then modeled on simulink. You just need more time to figure out how things are calculated. The only thing that a added to state space is the derivative of the input Ei as, if i remember, the transfer function depends on the derivative form of the excitation input. Also, i remember adding a gain to the output in order to scale it to a desired voltage scale for my simulation needs. Let me know if you need more help and if you find any mistakes or wrong implemntation in the model please let me know.

Hi rdjixon93,

I have just checked my model and you're absolutely right. there is a problem with the state space representation. I made a mistake when putting the values of matrices B and C. normally, B=[0,1]' and C=[0 b1] with b1=M1*Rl/X (according to the Controllable Canonical Form). Also i didn't remember why i added the derivative blocks for the input Ei so i removed it. I corrected and tested the model and i think everything okay for now. I added a new model "LVDT_model_corrected_sim.rar" in the same google drive link:

In this new model, you can find 7 types of signals that you can use to test the model. I also added a conditioning stage to restitute the mechanical displacement and you can see the non linear behaviour when approaching the edges.
